Hi All, Just a note that I'm moving the blog to Wordpress due to unfixable Weebly bugs. For now comments are disabled on this page. BUT, you can go to the identical Weebly blog at tcdoeh.weebly.com/blog.html and leave comments there for now. Thanks.
Well, the mad mad ellipsoid challenge is ready. And the website is so close. I made a quick 'mockup' in Blender to give some idea what this would look like in a 'space' such as a den or living room. I also designed a stand that can be printed as well (probably best in black but sandstone could be good too). The stand is modifiable. I'm getting more (and more) interested in the architectural and design potentials for 'meshagons' (e.g. see Emerging Objects website, it's very nice). Website is looking good. The big problem right now is porting to my own site (tcdoe.com). I've been up all night trying to figure this one out. New images from the 'mezoscope' are looking pretty good. I think that in addition to the scientific value there is also some quite interesting artistic value to the images. What you are seeing (left) is an elliptically polarized light image of a breast biopsy/retrieval specimen. The patterns are collagen fibers, which 'self-illuminate' under polarized light. The original image is about 30000x20000 pixels so it's practically 'poster size'. I've updated the 'old' tensortek mezoscope site with some new images and a 'Zoomify' section where you can view some of the gigapixel images interactively.
